A prisoner was brutally killed by another inmate in the lockup of Saket Court in Delhi. The deceased prisoner, identified as Aman, was allegedly strangled to death with feet by his inmate. The murder sparked a fierce fight between two groups, leaving the court premises in disarray.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. The court was thrown into chaos following the murder.
As per the news agency ANI, a deadly altercation between two groups of prisoners occurred, leading to the killing of an undertrial prisoner, Aman, by two inmates inside the lockup. The incident took place in Kharja No. 5 of the Saket Court lockup.
According to Delhi police, they were lodged in Tihar Jail no 8 and were brought to Saket Court for court proceedings. At the time, several undertrial prisoners, including Aman, were present inside the lock-up when two fellow inmates, Jitender and Jaidev, attacked him, which led too Aman's death.
“An incident of assault took place on 5th June in Kharja No. 5 of Saket Court Lock-up. One Aman was brought to the lock-up for production before the Court. At the time of the incident, a lot of undertrial prisoners (UTPs), including the deceased Aman, were present inside the said Kharja. Two UTPs, Jitender and Jaidev, assaulted the victim. Jitender and Aman had old animosity between them due to an incident of assault that happened in 2024 when they both were outside the jail. Aman allegedly assaulted Jitender and his brother with knife in that incident,” Delhi police was sourced by ANI.
In a similar incident inside the court premises, a lawyer shot a woman four times, leaving her severely injured in April 2023. Later, the accused was arrested by the police.
