Delhi Lieutenant Governer (LG) VK Saxena has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) for allotment of a Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) land parcel at Sarai Kale Khan. This NOC relates to a 2.5-acre (10,430 square meter) land parcel from DUSIB for the project, which involves not only redeveloping the ISBT but also developing supporting passenger infrastructure and amenities.

Sarai Kale Khan will become one of Delhi’s largest multi-modal transit hubs, bringing together ISBT, Delhi Metro, Indian Railways, and the RRTS Network, after being redeveloped and integrated. This will provide seamless connectivity and improved amenities for lakhs of commuters, including interstate passengers.
The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation requested this land on February 2, 2024. Currently, the land is under the possession of DUSIB and has been confirmed to be free from encroachments, making it available for allotment. DUSIB has also verified that there are no pending court cases or litigation related to this land.
DUSIB, the land-owning agency, has stated that three night shelters currently occupy the land parcel. According to a Supreme Court order dated 09.05.2023, these night shelters cannot be relocated without prior court approval.
It has been agreed that DUSIB will approach the Supreme Court to seek permission to relocate the night shelters and their inmates to a nearby location. The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) has also confirmed that the proposed ISBT redevelopment will include the construction of permanent structures for the night shelters.
