The tragic accident in Saudi Arabia's Medina on Monday killed 45 passengers who were sitting in a bus that collided with a diesel tanker. The collision triggered a massive fire that didn't give time to passengers time to escape.
In the fatal collision, however, a person narrowly escaped the tragic end. He has been identified as Mohd. Abdul Shoaib (24). He was reportedly sitting near the driver while the bus was en route to Medina from Mecca.
According to a report by NDTV, citing sources, Shoaib is a resident of Hyderabad and has been admitted to a Saudi government hospital. He was admitted to the ICU as his condition was critical. Since then, there has been no update on his health condition.
Reacting to the tragic incident, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar expressed deep shock. Jaishankar is travelling to Russia to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting.

He added that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are providing the fullest support to affected victims and their families.
Taking cognisance of the incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and DGP Shivadhar Reddy to immediately gather information on the victims and ascertain how many people from Telangana were on board.
According to a report by The Hindu, Nampally MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain is likely to travel to Saudi Arabia as part of Congress's efforts to support the bereaved families. Many of the Victims were from Nampally in Hyderabad.
The deceased include 18 members of a single family from three generations. The family also belonged to Hyderabad.
According to their relatives, they had travelled to the Middle East country eight days ago for Umrah and had completed their pilgrimage. They were on their way back to Medina when the accident took place around 1.30 AM. There were nine adults and nine children in the family who died in the fire that destroyed the bus within minutes.
