PM Modi, SCO Meeting 2025: The ongoing SCO meeting at Tianjin has become the point of merger of major powers. The top three major political and economic powers in Eurasia, India, China, and Russia, have converged in a show of unity and regional strength. The SCO summit became a stage for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and China’s Xi Jinping to display bonhomie amid tensions with the US. It has sent a clear message to Washington as the relationship between the US and India grows sour, following Donald Trump’s hefty trade tariffs.

Prime Minister Modi and Putin are reportedly set to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the ongoing SCO meeting. This meeting will further strengthen India’s diplomatic position after PM Modi met Chinese President Xi and agreed to work towards a "fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable" solution to their border issues. India and China also vowed to expand trade and investment ties to stabilise global trade.

A Clear-Cut Message To Washington?

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Putin were seen walking hand in hand, indicating that India will not back down over America’s threats. The three leaders then shared an animated laugh, which resembled a calm between the three and kept Washington guessing.
