Following the suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, Seema Haider has expressed deep concern over the possibility of deportation. Seema gained national attention in 2023 when she crossed into India illegally via Nepal with her four children to marry her Indian partner, Sachin Meena.
At the time, she was already married and was residing in Sindh, Pakistan.
In a video circulating on social media, Seema makes an emotional appeal, saying, “I don’t want to return to Pakistan. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to allow me to stay in India.”
Since arriving, Seema has converted to Hinduism and is seeking to make India her permanent home.
Haider claims to have embraced Hinduism after marrying Sachin Meena. Despite facing widespread criticism across the country, her lawyer remains optimistic that she will be permitted to stay in India, arguing that she no longer considers herself a Pakistani citizen.
Haider said in the video, "I appeal to Modi ji and Yogi ji that I am now in their refuge. I was the daughter of Pakistan, but now I am the daughter-in-law of India. Let me stay here."
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced a series of retaliatory measures on Wednesday, including the suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals.
The Ministry of External Affairs declared that all valid visas issued to Pakistani citizens will be revoked starting April 27. However, medical visas will remain valid until April 29. Pakistani nationals currently residing in India have been instructed to leave the country before their visa expiration dates.
Seema Haider left her home in Karachi and entered India in May 2023. By July, Indian authorities discovered her living with Sachin Meena in the Rabupura area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh. The couple reportedly met in 2019 while playing an online game. They are currently residing in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
