Shahberi Road Widening Project: Commuters are still waiting for Shahberi Road to reopen after it was closed on March 25 for widening work. This key route, connecting Noida’s Gaur City to Crossing Republik in Ghaziabad, has been undergoing widening work, which was initially scheduled to last 20 days. The plan involved expanding the road by approximately 1.5 meters on both sides. However, the project was delayed and authorities have now set a new deadline for its completion and reopening.
The project has been partially completed and the road will be entirely prepared within a week. The lane leading from Greater Noida West to Crossing Republik in Ghaziabad has been completed, and people have already started using it. Work on the second lane is in its final stage.
“The road widening work connecting Sector-4 of Greater Noida West to Crossing Republik in Ghaziabad will be completed within a week. This will resolve the traffic congestion issue in Shahberi. Drainage construction has also been done to address water discharge,” Hindustan quoted Prerna Singh, ACEO of the Greater Noida Authority, as saying.
This road, which starts from the Iteda roundabout in Greater Noida West, was previously about 3 meters wide. Due to it being a single-lane road, daily traffic jam was a common issue. As a result, the Greater Noida Authority began the widening work of the approximately 1.5-kilometer-long Shahberi Road on March 25. To ensure durability, an RCC road is being constructed along with drainage on both sides at a cost of Rs 3 crore. Once completed, the commute between Greater Noida West and Crossing Republik will become smoother.
Nitesh Kumar, the Authority's manager, stated that the road has been widened by at least 1.5 meters on both sides, with some sections expanded by up to 2 meters. The widening work is in its final phase. One lane is already complete and is being used by commuters.
