Goods belonging to farmers, which were stolen during the sit-in at the Shambhu border, have been recovered from the official residence of the Executive Officer of the Nabha Municipal Council. Police stated that they have recovered tractor-trolley parts from the government house, which were allegedly stolen eight months ago during the farmers' protest.

The recovery was made after the police excavated the site following mounting pressure from farmers, who had been staging intensified protests over the past two days demanding action. Previously, the farmers had alleged that their tractor-trolleys were stolen eight months ago during the protests at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points.

According to officials, the police excavated the site using a JCB (earth-moving machine), revealing several trolley parts buried within the compound. The recovery, made on Wednesday, has further fueled anger among farmer groups. Leaders of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Azad), including its Nabha President Gamdoor Singh, claimed that the trolley parts had been buried in an attempt to destroy evidence.

What Did The Executive Officer Say?

Executive Officer Gurcharan Singh Gill denied any involvement, stating that although the house is allotted in his name, he does not reside there and commutes from his village. He alleged that Pankaj Pappu, the husband of the Nabha Municipal Council President, often operated from the premises. Gill noted that the Municipal Council had previously appointed Pappu as a supervisor.

The Executive Officer added that he is willing to cooperate with the police investigation. Davinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) in Patiala, confirmed that the tractor-trolley parts were excavated from the government residential complex.

Stating that the police have taken the recovered items into custody, the SHO assured a thorough investigation and promised strict action against anyone found guilty.

Tractor-Trolleys Went Missing From Shambhu And Khanauri Borders

The SHO mentioned that a case has already been registered against Pappu in this matter. Eight months ago, farmers had alleged that several of their tractor-trolleys were stolen from the Shambhu and Khanauri border points. The farmers had been camped there for approximately 13 months, raising various demands, including a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops.
