The internal fued in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has intensified after Mahua Moitra took ‘misogynist’ jibe at party MP Kalyan Banerjee over his contentious remark on the gangrape of a Kolkata law student. Banerjee has now targeted Moitra over her recent marriage with former BJD MP Pinaki Misra.
The Serampore MP alleged Moitra broken up a family of 40 years to marry Mishra, questioning if it was not a harm to the lady whom the latter’s separated with.

"Mahua has come back to India after her honeymoon and started fighting with me! She accuses me of being anti woman, that what is she? She has broken up a 40-year marriage and married a guy who is 65 years old. Did she not hurt the lady?," India Today quoted Banerjee as saying.
Saying that Moitra was the most anti-woman, Banerjee highlighted her expulsion from Lok Sabha due to ‘breach of ethics.’
"An MP who was expelled from parliament for breach of ethics is preaching me! She is the most anti-woman. She only knows how to secure her future and how to make money," he added.
The TMC distanced itself from the controversial remarks made by two of the party leaders, stating that the comments were made in their personal capacity and do not reflect the party’s mindset.

Mahua Moitra supported party’s view on the issue saying misogyny is prevalent across all political parties in India, but what makes TMC different is that it believes in denouncing such regressive comments, regardless of who makes them.
