Shibu Soren Death: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren died at the age of 81 on Monday after a prolonged illness, confirmed his son and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. While condoling the death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded his role in "empowering tribal communities".

“Shri Shibu Soren Ji was a grassroots leader who rose through the ranks of public life with unwavering dedication to the people. He was particularly passionate about empowering tribal communities, the poor and downtrodden. Pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Spoke to Jharkhand CM Shri Hemant Soren Ji and expressed condolences. Om Shanti,” PM Modi posted on X.

As per Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, Shibu Soren was declared dead at 8:56 am on Monday. He was suffering from a kidney ailment, and had suffered a stroke, a month and a half back. He was on the life support system for the last one month.

Priyanka Gandhi Reacts

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said "I have messaged Kalpana ji (Kalpana Soren). This is very sad news for all of us. We express our condolences to the family, our prayers are with them."

"Shibu Soren has passed away. He was a great leader of Dalits and tribals, and I had good relations with him. I feel sad. May his soul rest in peace... It is a great loss for politics," Lalu Prasad Yadav told the media.

"Dedicated His Life For Separate Jharkhand State": Mallikarjun Kharge

"I am saddened by the passing of Jharkhand's former Chief Minister, former Union Minister, and founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Shibu Soren ji. He dedicated his life to the struggle for a separate Jharkhand state and the rights of its people over water, forest, and land, as well as the preservation of tribal culture. I spoke with his son and Jharkhand's Chief Minister @HemantSorenJMM ji, expressing my deep condolences to his family and supporters. In this hour of grief, may God grant them strength," Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on X.

"No Less Than God," Says Sanjay Raut

“We always think of Shibu Soren. Coming from a tribal state, that person joined national politics. For the people of Jharkhand, he was no less than a god. Shibu Soren is a member of the Rajya Sabha, and his seat is right next to mine... I always asked his party MPs about his health. Two days ago, I was told he was not doing well, and today he has passed away. Uddhav Thackeray and the entire family pay tributes to him. He gave his life for the welfare of the tribal population of his state,” Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, as quoted by ANI.

Pramod Tiwari Calls Shibu Soren "Loudest Voice" Of Tribals 

"Shibu Soren was the loudest voice, biggest identity and symbol of the highest honour of the tribals, on the national level and not just in Jharkhand. Be it as the CM of Jharkhand or his presence at the Centre, he always spoke for the poor, labourers, especially for the rights of tribals. I don't think there is a bigger (tribal) face than his. I pay my respects to him,” Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said.
