- Eastern Railway announced two special trains for Shravani Mela 2026.

In view of the massive crowds expected during the Shravani Mela 2026, the Eastern Railways has announced two special train services to ensure safe and comfortable travel for the devotees. The trains have been announced between Ranchi and Bhagalpur.
Both these special trains have been equipped with general, second class, sleeper and air-conditioned (AC) coaches for the convenience of passengers, so that every class gets the facility.
Special Train via Rajabera Route
Train No 08689 Ranchi-Bhagalpur Shravani Mela Special will run every Sunday and Wednesday, and will complete 14 trips from July 26, 2026 to September 9, 2026.
The train is scheduled to depart from Ranchi at 6:40 PM and arrive in Bhagalpur at 6:30 AM the next day through Muri and Rajabera.
The return trip, Train No. 08690 Bhagalpur-Ranchi Special, will be operational on each Monday and Thursday from July 27 to September 10, 2026, also offering 14 trips. It will depart from Bhagalpur at 09.10 am and reach Ranchi at 09.20 pm the same day.
Special Train via Barkakana Route
Keeping the increasing rush of passengers in the mela in view, another special train through the Barkakana route has also been introduced by the Eastern Railway.
Train No. 08640 Ranchi-Bhagalpur Special would run on every Monday and Friday, on all days between July 27 and September 11, 2026 and would complete 14 trips. The train would leave from Ranchi at 05.30 pm and would reach Bhagalpur at 06.30 am of the next day from Barkakana.
Going back, 08645 Bhagalpur - Ranchi Shravani Mela Special Train will run on every Tuesday and Saturday from July 28 to September 12, 2026. Leaving Bhagalpur at 09:10 AM, the train will arrive in Ranchi at 09:40 PM on the same day.
Halts For Pilgrims
Both pairs of these special trains will be stopping at the stations of Sultanganj, Jamalpur and Abhaypur of the Eastern Railway zone to ease the rush of devotees travelling for the Shravani Mela.
A senior railway official stated that the booking dates for the above-mentioned Shravani Mela special trains will be announced shortly.
