NEET-UG Paper Leak Case: The Supreme Court on Friday pulled up the government over the NEET-UG paper Leak case, saying it is actually very traumatic if something like this happens. The real problem won't stop till actual accountability arises, the top court asserted. We should not disappoint our youngsters, said the top court.
The Supreme Court has directed the Centre — Ministry of Education, to file a separate affidavit detailing devising of a mechanism by which the process of conducting and concluding NEET examinations would be institutionalised by the NTA on a year-to-year basis.

A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said that the affidavit must explain how institutional memory and expertise would be developed within the National Testing Agency (NTA) through the deployment of specialised personnel and a broad-based composition of experts.
The Court observed that the endeavour must be to ensure that the NTA “possesses the necessary physical as well as intellectual wherewithal to prevent the recurrence of incidents such as the NEET examination controversies of 2024 and 2026”. The affidavit has been directed to be filed within six weeks.
During the hearing, the Court noted the response (affidavits) filed by the NTA and the Chairman of the High Powered Committee Dr K Radhakrishnan.
What Govt Said On The Paper Leak
Notably, the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing Centre, informed the Court that the Prime Minister of the country himself is monitoring the issue. Mehta told the Supreme Court that they were dealing with youths and the government was seriously concerned about their concerns. The Solicitor General cited PM Modi's supervision to underscore the government's seriousness in addressing the issue.
'We are dealing with youths; the government is seriously concerned about their concerns," Mehta told the top court. Some new mechanisms were put in place for NEET-UG scheduled for June 21, he added.
What Is The Enitre Issue?
On May 12, the NTA cancelled the NEET-UG examination, held on May 3, for medical admissions amid allegations of paper leak, following the paper leak. A re-examination has been scheduled for June 21.
The CBI registered the case on the same day based on a written complaint by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. The NEET was conducted on May 3 across 551 Indian cities and at 14 overseas centres. Nearly 23 lakh candidates had registered for the test, which was administered by the NTA.
