Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Saturday emptied a bottle of “polluted black water" outside Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s residence, claiming that the same water is being supplied to the people of the national capital. Taking a potshot at Atishi, Maliwal said that the water she brought was just a sample and if the CM does not fix the water supply of the entire Delhi within fifteen days, she will bring a whole tanker full of polluted water outside the CM’s residence.

Maliwal said that the people of Sagarpur, Dwarka had called her, to show the pathetic situation of drinking water.

“The people of Sagarpur, Dwarka had called me and the situation there is very bad. I went to a house and black water was being supplied there. I filled that black water in a bottle and I brought that water here, at the Chief Minister’s residence," said Swati Maliwal, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The former Delhi Women Commission chief claimed that the situation in Delhi has been the same since 2015 and the AAP government just promised to fix the situation year after year but nothing fruitful happened.

“Since 2015 we have been hearing that next year everything will be fine… That black water which I have brought – they have no shame, will Delhi drink this?" she added.

Maliwal further said, “I am leaving this water for her. She can bathe with this water, drink this water or purify her sins… Chhath Puja is coming. Today was Govardhan Puja, yesterday was Diwali and this is the condition of Delhi… Who can drink this water and live? Who can stay alive after drinking this water? The Chief Minister is also the Water Minister. Is her job just to make fun by holding ten press conferences every day?"

The development came days after AAP alleged that Delhi is grappling with severe water shortage due to alarmingly high ammonia contamination in the Yamuna river, primarily attributed to industrial waste from Haryana.

Meanwhile, the BJP had accused AAP of “failing" to ensure proper water supply in the national capital.

Earlier, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva was admitted to the RML Nursing Home with complaints of itching and breathing difficulties, two days after he took a dip in the heavily-polluted Yamuna to highlight the alleged failure of the AAP government to clean the river.

On October 24, Sachdeva took a dip in the Yamuna at the Chhath Ghat and slammed former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his “failure" to fulfil his promise to clean the river by 2025.
