Tamil Nadu Elections 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday targeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over a leaked audio clip allegedly featuring DMK MP A Raja, saying he should clear his stand. The clip exposed the ruling party's true stance on social justice, state BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy.

What Is The Issue?

An unverified audio clip was released on social media, creating a political storm in the poll-bound Tamil Nadu. The clip allegedly featuring Raja highlighted grievances about his time in prison as an undertrial in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case, in which he was ultimately acquitted by the trial court.

In the audio, the speaker (purported to be Raja) claims that during his imprisonment in Tihar Jail, the DMK leadership completely ignored him. No one from the party visited him for two months until Kanimozhi was also brought to the prison, A Raja reportedly said in the clip. However, the DMK leader rejected the clip, calling it fabricated.

"Now, that shows the Dravida model, DMK's attitude towards, you know, social justice. Raja very clearly says that he was in jail and till Kanimozhi came to Tihar Jail, nobody visited him from DMK," Thirupathy said while addressing a press conference in Chennai. Challenging the DMK leadership to refute the claims, Thirupathy said the person who had released the audio had openly challenged DMK leadership to sue him if they had the guts.

Tamil Nadu will hold elections in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4. The last date for filing nominations is April 6. Scrutiny will take place on April 7, and the final date for withdrawal of candidatures is April 9.
