Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Cyclone Fengal will like make landfall today. A red alert has also been issued by India Meteorological Department Department (IMD) for several parts of the state on Saturday including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villuppuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore districts, and Puducherry.

In view of the rainfall in Tamil Nadu, the government has ordered schools and colleges to remain shut today in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Tamil Nadu Rain: Employees Asked To Do WFH

Authorities in Tamil Nadu have been directed to suspend public transport services on key roads like East Coast Road (ECR) and Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) during the afternoon of November 30.

The state government also advised IT companies to allow employees to work from home on November 30 to decrease the number of commuters during the storm's peak hours.

Tamil Nadu Rain: Warning Issued For Fishermen

Fishermen and residents have been urged to stay alert as the cyclonic storm nears. Coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, especially those around Karaikal and Puducherry, are expected to experience stormy seas, high winds, and rainfall.

Tamil Nadu Rain: Over 2,000 Relief Centres Set Up In Areas With Heavy Rain Warnings

The Tamil Nadu Revenue and Disaster Management Department has set up 2,229 relief centres in areas under heavy rain warnings. Currently, 471 people from 164 families have been relocated to relief camps in the Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts.

The department has stated that it is prepared for further evacuations if necessary.

Tamil Nadu Rain: 18 Flights Cancelled Due To Cyclone Fengal

With heavy rain and gusty winds predicted, the Chennai International Airport has canceled 18 flights to and from the city.Additionally, the state government has issued a public safety advisory.
