Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall till June 13. The weather department stated that while the coastal regions of the state will witness heavy rain along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the capital city, Chennai, is likely to receive moderate rainfall for the next few days. The IMD stated that the rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to three degrees Celsius, providing relief from the scorching heat. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, and Villupuram, are expected to witness heavy rainfall along with gusty winds on June 10. It added that the intensity of the rain will increase on June 11, adding that Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Kallakurichi are likely to receive heavy rainfall.

The IMD further stated that heavy rainfall is likely in districts like Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Nilgiris on June 12, adding that the residents of Nilgiris and Coimbatore will witness heavy rain with thunderstorms on June 13. The IMD emphasised that while the rainfall is likely to provide relief from the heat, it will lead to other issues, including waterlogging and power outages.

The weather department stated that the capital city, Chennai, will witness moderate rainfall till June 13, adding that the temperature is likely to increase after June 15. The IMD has also advised the fishermen of the coastal regions to limit their financial activities till June 13 to avoid inconveniences. Apart from this, the IMD also stated that several other states, including Kerala and Karnataka, are also expected to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
