Telangana News: A 20-year-old second-year student in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri took her life on Thursday after alleged persistent harassment by a volleyball coach. As per the statement given to the police by family members, the coach had been harassing her over love affairs, which police think would have led to the escalation of the matter to this extreme, news agency ANI reported. 

The victim's family and friends have accused the coach, identified as Ambaji, of harassment. The police have not found any solid evidence or a suicide note in the case so far.

The Inspector of Lalaguda Police Station told news agency ANI that a case has been registered against the coach, and an investigation is going on. 

According to the statement of the victim’s brother, quoted by local media platform NTvtelugu, the victim closed the door of the room as soon as she arrived home from college and hung herself from the fan installed inside. He further said that he called people from the nearby area and later filed a formal complaint at Lalaguda police station.

Haryana IPS Officer Suicide

In another suicide incident, which is now turning into high high-profile case, an IPS officer, Y Puran Kumar, in Haryana, ended his life over alleged ‘caste based’ discrimination.

Following a complaint from Anmeet P Kumar, IAS officer and wife of the late Haryana Additional Director General of Police Y Puran Kumar, a case has been registered against Haryana’s Director General of Police Shatrujeet Singh Kapur and Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya.
