Telangana: Nine Arrested After 300 Stray Dogs Killed In Three Days; Poisoned And Dumped Outside Hanamkonda Village

In a shocking discovery, approximately 300 dogs were reportedly killed in Hanamkonda, Telangana. Police officials confirmed on Sunday that a case has been registered against nine individuals following the alleged killing of the dogs.

In a complaint lodged on January 9, animal welfare activists Adulapuram Goutham and Farzana Begum claimed that 300 stray dogs were killed in the villages of Shayampet and Arepally over a span of three days, beginning January 6.

The activists have accused the Sarpanches and Gram Panchayat Secretaries of hiring two individuals to poison the dogs, and then disposing of their carcasses on the outskirts of the villages.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and other applicable laws at Shyampet police station.
