Dense fog expected across north India from December has forced the railways to temporarily reduce the frequency of the Sealdah–Ajmer Express. The move is likely to increase pressure on remaining trains during Rajasthan’s peak tourist season.
To manage the extra passenger load, Northern and Eastern Railways have announced the attachment of additional coaches on key trains connecting Kolkata with Rajasthan-
Train With Extra Coaches (December 2025 – January 2026)
-Train 12987/12988 Sealdah–Ajmer Express: One additional First AC-cum-Second AC coach from 2 Dec to 1 Jan (Sealdah departure) and 1–31 Dec (Ajmer departure).
-Train 19607/19608 Kolkata–Madar Express: One additional Second AC coach from 4 Dec to 1 Jan (Kolkata departure) and 1–29 Dec (Madar departure).
- Train 12495/12496 Bikaner–Kolkata Pratap Express: One additional Third AC and one Sleeper coach from 4–25 Dec (Bikaner departure) and 5–26 Dec (Kolkata departure).
Train With Routes Change
Route Changes in January 2026 Due to operational reasons, the following trains bound for/from Rajasthan will run on diverted routes on select dates with extra stoppages for passenger convenience:
-8, 15 & 22 January: 12372 Bikaner–Howrah Superfast Express will run via Medta Bypass–Jaipur–Rewari instead of its regular route. Extra halts at Nokha, Nagaur, Medta Bypass, Degana, Makrana and Phulera.
-21 & 22 January: 12259 Sealdah–Bikaner Duronto Express will run via Rewari–Jaipur–Medta Bypass. Extra stops at Alwar, Jaipur and Degana.
-22 & 23 January: 12260 Bikaner–Sealdah Duronto Express will run via Medta Bypass–Jaipur–Rewari. Extra halts at Degana, Jaipur and Alwar.
