Ulhasnagar Firing Incident A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA has been arrested for allegedly shooting at Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader over a land dispute in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said on Saturday. The incident occurred on Friday night at Hill Line Police Station in Ulhasnagar. Soon the matter came to the fore, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadanavis ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.

- Maharashtra CM visited Jupiter Hospital in Thane to meet party leader Mahesh Gaikwad who was shot by BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad.
- BJP MLA opened fire at Shiv Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad inside the chamber of the senior inspector of Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar area on Friday night, Additional Commissioner of Police Dattatrya Shinde told the media.
- "Yes, I shot (him) myself. I have no regrets. If my son is being beaten in front of the police inside the police station, what will I do," Ganpat said. He claimed that he fired five rounds of bullets on Sena leader.
- Ganpat Gaikwad alleged that Shinde is "trying to create a kingdom of criminals in Maharashtra". "If Eknath Shinde is the chief minister, only criminals will be born in Maharashtra. He has made a good person like me a criminal today," he said as quoted by PTI.
- Along with BJP MLA, the police have also arrested two other people in connection with incident. They have been booked under Indian Penal Code sections, including 307 (attempt to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy), said an official as quoted by PTI news.
- Mahesh Gaikwad, who recieved injuries in firing, was admitted to a hospital in Thane city. "He underwent surgery, which was successful," said Gopal Landge, Kalyan in-charge of Sena.
