  1. UP cabinet approved link expressway realignment.
  2. Minimizes impact on densely populated areas.
  3. Route extends 1.18 km, cost unchanged.

State Bureau, Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to make partial changes in the alignment of the link expressway connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to the Purvanchal Expressway. The state cabinet has approved this change and aims to minimise the impact on densely populated areas near the proposed interchange of the Lucknow-Kanpur (NH-27) and Lucknow-Rae Bareli (NH-30) routes.

Due to the alignment change, the route will extend by 1.18 kilometres, but the total project cost will remain unchanged. The proposal was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday.

After re-evaluating the detailed alignment of the proposed link expressway from the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to the Purvanchal Expressway, the government has decided to partially modify it.

The revised alignment aims to provide relief to the large number of densely populated areas likely to be affected near the proposed interchange of Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway-27 and Lucknow-Raebareli National Highway-30.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that due to a change in alignment, the estimated length of the link expressway will increase from 49.80 km to 50.98 km.

However, despite the 1.18-kilometre increase in length, the total cost of the project will remain unchanged. This is because the potential cost increase from the additional length will be offset by the savings from constructing an underpass in place of the proposed interchange.

In another major decision, the UP Cabinet has approved the purchase of 250 new electric buses for the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). The proposed purchase will cost Rs 425.50 crores, out of which Rs 400 crore will be paid by the state government while the corporation will pay the remaining Rs 25.50 crore.

The plan has been approved in accordance with the Commission for Air Quality Management's (CAQM) directive on air pollution control in the National Capital Region (NCR).
