A large group of protesters blocked National Highway 91, connecting Bulandshahr and Aligarh, on Wednesday after a cow slaughter incident near Bidhan Nagar village sparked outrage. The protests intensified when locals demanded immediate and harsh action against the perpetrators, claiming that this was the second such incident in the Gabhana area in just two days.
In response, senior police officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Aligarh, Sanjiv Suman, swiftly arrived at the scene to calm the protesters. Their efforts were successful, and the blockade was lifted. SSP Suman assured the public that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the cow slaughter.

"We have registered an FIR and will ensure severe punishment for the culprits," said SSP Suman, adding that disciplinary actions would also be taken against any police officers found neglecting their responsibilities. As part of the response, Gabhana Station House Officer (SHO) Gajendra Singh was suspended due to his handling of the situation.
Suman also emphasised that the police have been actively addressing such crimes, with nine cases of cow slaughter reported in the district over the past year. He confirmed that in each case, the culprits were arrested, charged under the Gangsters Act, and their properties were seized.
