Two individuals were apprehended by the Army in Uri town of Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla district after they were found in possession of arms and ammunition on Saturday, officials informed. Multiple pistols and grenades were among the items recovered from the suspects, the Army said.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Indian Army's Chinar Corps said, "Based on intelligence inputs an MVCP was established on 14 Sep 2023 by IndianArmy and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Uri, Baramulla. Two suspected individuals were apprehended. 02xPistols, 05xHand Grenades & other war-like stores recovered. Investigation in progress."

MVCP stands for "Mobile Vehicle Interception Post (MVIP)", one of which the Army said was established on September 14 in Baramulla district under 'Operation Eagle'.

The recovery of arms and ammunition came hours after three terrorists were neutralised by security forces in the Hathlanga forward area of Uri.

"In a joint operation launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police and Intelligence agencies, an infiltration bid was foiled today in the morning hours along LoC in Uri Sector, Baramulla. 3 terrorists tried to infiltrate and were engaged by alert troops. 2 terrorists were eliminated and their bodies recovered, the third terrorist was killed but the retrieval of the body was interfered by firing by the Pak post in the vicinity, on LoC. Operation in progress," the Army said in its statement.

Meanwhile, the joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police against terrorists 'holed up' in the forest area of Gadole in Anantnag district's Kokernag entered its fourth day.

As per officials, two-three terrorists are believed to be engaging security forces in the hilly terrain of Anantnag district.

Sharing statement of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Zone Police posted on X a day ago, "Rtd Police/Army officers should avoid 'Ambush Hypothesis'. It is a specific input based ops. Ops is in progress and all 2-3 trapped terrorists will be neutralised."

Army has maintained a tight cordon-off in the area, they said. Drones and quadcopters have reportedly been deployed to locate the terrorists.
