Russia on Friday said that it is ready to ramp up supplies of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India as the ongoing conflict in West Asia continues to strain global energy markets.
Speaking during an official visit to India, Russia's First Deputy Chairman, Denis Manturov, said Russian companies have the capacity to steadily increase supplies of oil and liquefied natural gas to support India's growing demand.
"Denis Manturov confirmed that Russian companies have the capacity to steadily increase supplies of oil and liquefied natural gas to the Indian market," a statement from the Russian Embassy in India read.
Increased Supplies Of Mineral Fertilisers To India
Highlighting that Russia had increased supplies of mineral fertiliser to India by 40 per cent by the end of 2025, Manturov said that Moscow remains ready to continue meeting India's requirements.
Joint Project For Urea Production Under Development
Manturov said a joint project for urea production is currently under development, aimed at strengthening long-term agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
Russia-India Collaboration In Nuclear Energy
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration in nuclear energy. Work on new power units at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is progressing steadily with agreed schedules.
"Russia and India continue to strengthen their partnership in nuclear energy. In line with agreed schedules, the project to construct power units for the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is being implemented," the statement added.
Discussions On Expanding Cooperation In Industry, Space, Education And Innovation
Beyond energy and fertilisers, Denis Manturov's visit focused on expanding cooperation in sectors such as industry, space, education, and innovation.
Manturov, who co-chairs the India-Russia intergovernmental commission, held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on trade, connectivity, technology, and critical minerals.
"Both sides held wide-ranging discussions focusing on trade, industry, energy, fertilisers, connectivity and mobility in addition to new opportunities in technology, innovation and critical minerals. The two sides also reviewed the progress on the implementation of the various outcomes of the 23rd India Russia Annual Summit held in December last year. The co-Chairs also exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the conflict in West Asia," the release said.
