Uttarakhand Weather Update: The continuous heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has led to landslides in the hilly regions and flooding in the lower districts. Amid the heavy rains, the Dehradun DM has declared a holiday in all schools and Anganwadi centres from classes 1 to 12 on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a heavy rain alert for nine districts, including Dehradun and Haridwar. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly.
Heavy Rain Likely In Nine Districts
The weather department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall for nine districts. As per the IMD, flash floods are expected in these districts, disrupting the vehicular movement. The district administrations have been directed to take necessary steps to minimise the damage. Amid the warning from the weather department, a holiday has been declared for schools up to grade 12 in Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Bageshwar districts.
The continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging under the Bhaniawala flyover on the Doiwala-Rishikesh main road, leading to inconveniences to the commuters. Apart from this, rainwater has also entered nearby homes, forcing the residents to relocate temporarily.

Waterlogging In Lower Regions
As per the reports, water from the forest area of Jolly Grant and the Thano Forest Range reaches the main road due to encroachment in Bhaniyawala. As per the weather department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in some areas of Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts.
In its advisory, the IMD highlighted that along with heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in these districts. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts of the state, including Haridwar, Pauri, Almora, and Champawat.
The weather department has advised the tourists to follow the guidelines and avoid their travel in the hilly regions during the rainfall to avoid inconveniences.
