The Uttarakhand government has initiated a crackdown on illegal madrasas running without registration in the state. The campaign against the illegal madrasas is going on since last month. So far, 180 illegal madrasas have been sealed across the state.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asserted that no institution will be allowed to operate outside the ambit of the law, and this type of action will continue in the future as well.
It must be noted that there are 452 madrasas registered under the Madrasa Education Board in Uttarakhand. Earlier, the government conducted a survey that showed a large number of madrasas running in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and other areas. Back then, it also came to light that over 500 madrasas were being run illegally across the state.
They are neither registered with the Madrasa Education Board nor do they meet the standards for madrasas. Accordingly, the government launched a campaign against illegal madrasas last month.

As part of the campaign, the joint teams of district administrations, civic bodies, and local police are conducting inspection drives across Uttarakhand. During the inspection, the documents of the madrasas are checked, and upon finding them unregistered, they are sealed by the administration.
The madrasas, which are being run with proper documentation and affiliation, are running unhindered in the state.
Meanwhile, CM Dhami flagged off vehicles for ‘Mukhya Sevak Bhandara’ from Dehradun earlier today. ‘Mukhya Sevak Bhandara’ will be run on the Chardham routes.
Speaking about the 'Mukhya Sevak Bhandara' CM Dhami said, "Preparations for the Char Dham Yatra have been completed in every way and people are very enthusiastic. Everyone contributes in different ways, whether through setting up food stalls (bhandaras) or organising other support camps. There is a lot of excitement among people, and this is celebrated like a festival here. People in the state eagerly look forward to it every year."
