Green Tax In Uttarakhand: Travellers visiting Kumaon in the coming year will be subjected to a new system that requires vehicles from other states to pay an entry fee known as the green cess (tax). Once you cross the border, a fixed sum is taken out from your wallet using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and remitted to the government account. This structure, which would provide economic strength to the state, is being implemented along the lines of Himachal Pradesh.
Green cess is presently collected from commercial vehicles carrying goods across the state and not just in Kumaon. The green cess is collected from the driver in the range of 40 to 80 rupees. The transportation department does not collect this tax from private or small automobiles. However, in the future, there is a proposal to deduct green cess online from fast-tag wallets.
The Uttarakhand Transport Department is preparing to hire a private company to implement the automatic vehicle green cess collection system. The tendering procedure for this has already commenced.

Following the selection of the company in the first week of December, additional requirements must be performed as quickly as feasible. As a result, beginning with the new year, the implementation of this new system and the collection of cess from vehicles outside the state will commence.
The Transport Department is heading quickly in the direction of Green Cess. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been erected along Kumaon's seven borders. These include Jaspur, Kashipur, Bajpur, Rudrapur, Pulbhatta, Majhola from Udham Singh Nagar district, and Kathgodam from Nainital district.
