Vande Bharat Express: Usually trains stop due to some technical fault or animals coming on the track, but have you ever heard that India's premium train Vande Bharat Express had to be halted due to a lehenga (an Indian traditional gown)?Vande Bharat Express Faces Unexpected Hurdle In Kanpur; How A 'Lehenga' Stopped Premium Train In Its Tracks One such incident happened in Kanpur, when a lehenga flying in the air got stuck directly in the overhead electric wire (OHE), due to which the train had to be stopped in an emergency.
How did Vande Bharat Express stop?
The incident happened with Vande Bharat Express (22436) going from New Delhi to Varanasi. The train had reached Kanpur Central Station at 10:30 am and left for Prayagraj after some time. But as soon as the train reached Shanti Nagar crossing, the driver of the train saw that some cloth was stuck in the OHE line and smoke was coming from there. Seeing it, the driver immediately stopped the train and informed the control room.
As soon as the control room got information about this incident, Kanpur Central Station Superintendent Awadhesh Trivedi immediately reached the spot with his team. The railway electric staff saw that a lehenga was stuck in the OHE wires, which probably flew from the roof of a house and got stuck there. There are many high-rise buildings near Shanti Nagar crossing, where people put clothes out to dry. It is speculated that due to strong wind, this lehenga flew and got stuck directly in the OHE line of the train.
Vande Bharat Express stopped for 20 minutes
The railway electric team immediately started the work of removing the lehenga from the OHE line. After a complete check of the wires, when it was ensured that there was no other obstacle, the train resumed. This entire process lasted for about 20 minutes.
"We received information that some cloth was stuck in the OHE line and smoke was coming out from there. Our team immediately reached the spot and removed it. The lehenga had flown due to the wind and got stuck in the wires, which caused this problem," Kanpur Central CTF Ashutosh Singh said.
