Water Crisis: A massive political row erupted after at least 20 people died and several others faced serious health issues due to the contaminated water in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. The state government has ordered a detailed probe and assured that strict action will be taken against the responsible. However, several reports suggest that apart from Indore, several other Indian cities are also facing similar issues. The residents of several key cities, including Hyderabad, Noida, Bhopal, and Gandhinagar, have complained of diseases due to the contaminated water. The water samples of several states have failed the quality test, leading to serious health concerns.
Gandhinagar And Hyderabad
The officials stated that 108 cases of typhoid have been reported due to drinking contaminated water in Gandhinagar, reported Jagran.com. Apart from this, water samples from four out of the six regions of Hyderabad were found to be highly contaminated, reported the Times of India. The reports suggest that the water samples contained sewage, coliform bacteria, and industrial waste.
Water Crisis In Rohtak, Jhajjar
In the Rohtak and Jhajjar districts of Haryana, residents have also complained about dirty and foul-smelling water, reported The Tribune. The report also revealed that hundreds of residents are forced to either buy water from tankers or source it from other places for their daily needs.
Greater Noida
As per a news agency PTI report, the residents of Greater Noida have also complained of vomiting, fever, stomach pain, and diarrhea after drinking contaminated water. However, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has denied the claims of supplying contaminated water.
As per a report by the central government's Jal Jeevan Mission, clean drinking water is not accessible to a large population of the rural regions of Madhya Pradesh. The report revealed that over one-third of rural drinking water in Madhya Pradesh is dangerous for human health.
