The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to heavy rainfall in various states and heatwave conditions in several others.
As per the IMD bulletin, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab on Wednesday.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu division may witness heavy downpours, while Kashmir may witness heavy rainfall/snowfall. Heavy snowfall is also predicted at isolated places in Ladakh today. Additionally, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to get heavy rainfall at isolated places.
Moreover, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is likely over Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe.
The reason for the downpour in the above-mentioned areas is a western disturbance and an upper air cyclonic circulation that lies over central Pakistan.
Weather conditions in Delhi
In Delhi, the IMD has predicted clear skies with no warning for rainfall. Meanwhile, the temperature is likely to rise in the national capital today. The national capital may see a maximum temperature of 38-40 degrees Celsius while a minimum temperature of 17-19 degrees Celsius.

Heatwave conditions likely
Regarding the rising temperature, the weather department has predicted heatwave conditions in isolated areas of Odisha, along with hot and humid weather in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
Temperature forecast
In the latest forecast, the IMD has predicted a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius likely over many places over plains of Northwest India during next two days and fall in temperature by 3-5 degrees Celsius thereafter.
In East India, a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 4-6 degrees Celsius is predicted along with 2-3 degrees Celsius over Interior Maharashtra during next 4-5 days.
In Central India, the IMD has said that a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected during next 2-3 days.
