Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several northern states are likely to witness a drop in temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department further stated that snowfall in the hilly regions will lead to a change in the temperature, adding that the temperature will remain low, especially in the morning and evening hours. Apart from this, it also stated that the southern and western states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand, are set to witness a cold wave on Sunday. It stated that several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Varanasi, Etawah, Kannauj, Ayodhya, Agra, Aligarh, Firozabad, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Maharajganj, Bahraich, Rampur, Bareilly, and Ghazipur, are expected to witness a significant dip in the temperature.

The IMD has also issued a heavy rain alert for several southern states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, for the next few days. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to several issues, such as waterlogging and power outages in multiple regions. The weather department informed that along with heavy rainfall, the coastal regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The weather department stated that the minimum temperature may remain between seven and ten degrees Celsius in several northern states in the next three to four days. Apart from this, the residents of several northern states, including Punjab, Himachal, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh, are also likely to experience cold waves.
