The northern part of India is reeling under the havoc of severe heat.  Despite strong winds, the scorching heat continues to intensify steadily. There is a gradual increase in temperature as well. On Wednesday, Delhi's minimum temperature remained four degrees below normal at 19.0 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature stayed at the normal level of 37.5 degrees Celsius. The humidity level ranged from 92 to 28 per cent.

However, the weather is quite pleasant in some areas due to light downpours.

The weather department predicted that a spell of strong winds would continue for the next few days in the national capital. Partial cloud cover is expected on Thursday and winds will blow at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometres per hour during the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures could be around 38 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively. Following this, there is a possibility of rainfall in some areas on Friday.

As per the IMD, maximum temperature could rise in most parts of the country on Thursday. The situation of heatwave is likely in some parts of the Ganga basin in West Bengal, coastal Odisha, interior Karnataka, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Orange Alert In Bihar:

The state, including the capital, is currently observing severe hot weather. The scorching heatwaves have been affecting the livelihood of the people. Currently, there is no sign of relief. The temperature in Patna reached 40.7 degrees Celsius. The Patna Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for hot days and heatwaves in some places in southern and northern parts, including Patna, until April.

Uttarakhand Weather:

The weather is expected to remain dry across Uttarakhand. However, some areas could observe a shroud of the clouds. Partial clouds may appear in some areas around Dehradun, which could lead to a rapid increase in temperatures. Partial cloud cover is expected in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh as well.

Heatwave alert in Mumbai and Jharkhand:

The weather department has sounded a heatwave alert in Jharkhand and Mumbai. The temperature has crossed the 40-degree mark in 11 districts of Jharkhand. After light rain occurred in various parts of Jharkhand in recent days, there was a decrease in temperature. However, a surge in mercury was observed again.

According to the weather department, the heatwave is likely to engulf several parts of Thane, Raigad districts, and the capital Mumbai in Maharashtra from April 27 to 29. Meanwhile, it is expected that temperature will remain significantly high on April 27 and 28.
