Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that the temperature is likely to surge in several northern states of the country. It stated that while the northeastern and southern states are likely to experience light to heavy rainfall, the temperature in these states is likely to increase from next week. Earlier in the late hours of Friday, residents of Delhi-NCR experienced light rain with gusty winds, providing a major relief from the scorching heat. The weather department stated that the weather is likely to change in multiple states from May 20.
The residents of the national capital witnessed light rain along with gusty winds and thunderstorms on Friday, which provided relief from the scorching heat. The weather department also stated that the city is likely to witness light rain for the upcoming next few days.
However, the IMD also clarified that the temperature in Delhi and nearby regions is likely to increase after May 20. The IMD also stated that while most of the districts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience a surge in temperature of two to three degrees Celsius, some of the districts are likely to witness light rain till May 20.
Temperature To Rise In Haryana, Rajasthan
Apart from this, the weather department also stated that several northern states, including Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Rajasthan, are likely to witness a significant surge in temperature. It further stated that some regions of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days.

Rain Likely In Karnataka, Kerala
The IMD also stated that several southern states, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala, are likely to witness rainfall, along with gusty winds and thunderstorms, in the upcoming few days. The weather department has advised the residents of these states to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
