Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several states are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department predicts landslides in hilly regions and flood-like conditions in plain states. The IMD stated that the continuous rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. Apart from rainfall, multiple states are expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several northern states, including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. The IMD stated that rainfall in the national capital will provide relief from the heat; however, it is also likely to lead to other issues, including waterlogging and power outages.

It further stated that the continuous rainfall has affected livelihood in the hilly regions, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The IMD issued a heavy rain alert for several Uttarakhand districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Nainital, and Bageshwar. The weather department further stated that the plain states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are also likely to receive rainfall for the next few days.
It also stated that the water level in multiple rivers has crossed the danger mark, leading to inconveniences. While providing details, the IMD stated that the water level in several rivers of the Bundelkhand region, including Ken, Chandrawal, Bagen Ranj, Betwa, and Yamuna, has significantly surged, leading to flood-like situations in the plain regions.
Apart from this, multiple southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Telangana, are also likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
