The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a fresh western disturbance will affect the weather of North India from November 26 to 30, bringing rain, snow and hailstorm in various regions.
The met department has also issued alerts for several states and advised people to take precautions. According to IMD, the western disturbance will affect the weather of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan, where heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is very likely on Sunday and Monday. IMD has also issued an orange alert for these states warning of heavy to very heavy rain on Sunday.
The IMD said that western disturbance is also likely to cause light snowfall in the higher Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand on Monday and rain in the low-lying areas. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for the state.
Meanwhile, Chennai's Regional Meteorological Department has issued a warning for light to moderate rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Sunday.
The cold wave will intensify in Jammu and Kashmir, where the minimum temperature has dropped below zero in many places. The weather will remain generally dry in the rest of the country, with no major change expected till December 3, except for a mild impact of the western disturbance.
