Weather Updates: Parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are 'likely' to witness light to moderate rainfall and/or snowfall from March 10-12, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather bulletin on Friday. Additionally, isolated to scattered rainfall is 'very likely' to take place in Punjab from March 12-13 and in Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh on March 13, the IMD said in its forecast.

The downpour in the aforementioned regions will come as a result of western disturbances over northwest India, the IMD said. "Two Western Disturbances in quick succession likely to affect northwest India, 1st from the night of 10th March and 2nd from the night of 12th March. Under the influence of these systems," the five-day bulletin released by IMD stated.
Moreover, isolated light to moderate rainfall and/or snowfall is 'very likely' to occur over Arunachal Pradesh during the next seven days, the IMD said. Strong surface winds in the range of 25-35 km per hour is 'very likely' to prevail over the plains of northwest India, the IMD said in its forecast. "Strong surface winds (25-35 kmph) very likely to prevail over plains of Northwest India except south Rajasthan on 09th & 10th March, 2024," it stated.
The IMD also predicted the 'very likely' occurrence of isolated rainfall across Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Friday and Saturday. "A cyclonic circulation lies over south Odisha in lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence; isolated rainfall very likely over Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 08th& 09th March, 2024," the weather bulletin read. "Isolated rainfall/snowfall likely over Western Himalayan region, Arunachal Pradesh and Nicobar Islands," it added.
