Kolkata Police has registered a Zero FIR against West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose after the alleged sexual harassment complaint by a dancer. The FIR has been filed under Sections 376 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Bose’s nephew has also been named in the FIR, which was registered at the Hare Street Police Station.

Notably, an FIR is generally registered with the police station that falls under the jurisdiction of the area where an incident occurred. However, if a Zero FIR is registered, the police registering the case can investigate the incident regardless of where it happened. Once the case is started, it can be transferred to the police station in whose area the offence was allegedly committed.

As per the complaint, Bose took a famous dancer from Odisha to Delhi on the pretext of a dance show in June 2023. The dancer was made to stay in a five-star hotel, where the governor allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The ‘victim’ approached the state secretariat, Nabanna, with her complaint. The police received orders to conduct a preliminary investigation into the matter. A report on the outcomes of the probe was submitted to the state secretariat.

Recently, allegations were laid out against Governor CV Ananda Bose that he molested a female employee in his chamber at the Raj Bhavan. In this matter, the police have registered an FIR against the governor's secretary and other employees of the Raj Bhavan.

Bose, however, refuted the charges asserting that such allegations will not deter him from exposing TMC’s corruption and violence in the state.
