Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the Narendra Modi government on Saturday, May 17, for 'informing' Pakistan about targeting terror camps, which was part of Operation Sindoor. He called the move a crime and asked who had authorised it.

Rahul Gandhi attacked S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, for acknowledging in public that the Centre had notified Pakistan of the move. He inquired as to how many Indian Air Force planes were lost as a result of Islamabad receiving such intelligence.

"Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that the GOI did it. Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?" the Congress leader said in a post on X.

An undated video of the EAM allegedly stating that India has notified Pakistan of the action against terror infrastructure on its territory was also shared by him.

Rahul Gandhi posted a video in which EAM S Jaishankar is heard stating that the government had communicated to Pakistan that the attacks were limited to the terror infrastructure and not the military.

In the video, the minister can be heard saying, "At the start of the operation, we had sent a message to Pakistan, saying, 'We are striking at terrorist infrastructure and we are not striking at the military. So the military has the option of standing out and not interfering in this process. They chose not to take that good advice."

However, Jaishankar's assertion that India notified Pakistan before Operation Sindoor has been refuted by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

According to the PIB's Fact Check Unit, the minister was being misquoted and had not made any such remarks.
