DUSU Election 2025: The Delhi University Students' Union election results were announced on Friday, with RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) securing 3 seats in the central committee- President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. The Congress-backed NSUI won just a single seat of Vice-President. 

ABVP’s Aryan Maan (28,841 votes) won the DUSU President post, defeating NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary (12,645 votes). Maan’s campaigning during the election time was widespread, with even Sanjay Dutta joining the bandwagon in his own unique way. In an Instagram video, Dutt called him his “nephew” and appealed to students to vote for him.

The SFI-AISA combine had nominated Anjali, a student of Indraprastha College for Women. The voting for the DUSU election took place on Thursday in two phases, during which all eligible students cast their ballots in one of the country's largest student polls.

Who Is Aryan Maan, New DUSU President?

Born in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, Aryan Maan is the son of businessman Sikandar Maan. Maan’s academic journey within Delhi University began at Hansraj College, where he completed his undergraduate studies in commerce in 2025. His fellow acquaintances remark that, as a student, Aryan was both diligent and active in the debate culture prevalent in DU. 

After his graduation, Maan enrolled in the Master’s programme in Library Science at the Department of Library Science, DU. This choice of discipline set him apart from the conventional law, commerce or political science, which is a trend amongst many student leaders within the university. It also showed his long-term academic interest in research, knowledge systems, and access to learning resources.

Beyond the classroom, Maan is also an active sports lover and a very football player. Maan has also come out as a natural leader, raising important issues of student welfare with the help of his organisation, the ABVP. 

Who Is Sikandar Maan?

Sikandar Maan, father of Aryan Maan, is an Indian businessman and serves as the Executive Director of ADS Spirits in Beri. He is also the patriarch of the Maan family and is the owner of the whiskey brand, Royal Green. 

In addition to the liquor business, Maan is also involved in property and real estate, serving as the chairperson of Royal Green Realty. Sikandar’s elder son, Virat Maan, is also in the family business, serving as the Chief Executive Officer for the company and the director of RoCo Brands based in London.
