THE DELHI government has said services department secretary Ashish More, who has been absconding since he was removed from his post, "fell in line" after being served a show cause notice. More was served a show cause notice by the AAP-led government for not complying with its direction to replace him with a new officer.

On May 13, Services Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj issued a memo against More, seeking him to show cause and threatening disciplinary action against him for allegedly not complying with a direction for his transfer and going incommunicado.

Who Is Ashish More

Ashish More is an IAS officer. He was born in 1980 and hails from Maharashtra. He completed his graduation with a degree in bachelor of arts. He served as the general administration department secretary of the Delhi government before being appointed as the services secretary in 2022.

What Is Row Over His Transfer

After the Supreme Court gave the AAP control over the transfer and posting of officers, the Delhi government removed More from his post on May 11.

The Delhi government issued a show cause notice against More on Monday. The government in its notice stated that More has been trying through illegal means to continue upon the said post for attaining some ulterior objectives.

"The aforesaid conduct of Ashish Madhavrao More, it is apparent that after knowing about the intention of the Government of NCTD to transfer him from the post of Secretary Services, he has been trying through illegal means to continue upon the said post for attaining some ulterior objectives," the notice read.

"By aforesaid conduct, he also intends to sabotage and delay the implementation of the judgment of the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court. It also appears to be a malafide attempt to obstruct the exercise of lawful powers by an elected Government," it added further.

Bharadwaj on Friday said that after More was asked to present the file, he unexpectedly left the Secretariat without notifying the Minister's office, rendering himself unreachable while his phone also remained switched off.
