Goldy Brar, a gangster from Punjab, has been named in Canada's list of most wanted criminals. The gangster had claimed responsibility for the May 2022 murder of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala. Wanted for murder, supply of illegal firearms, criminal conspiracy, Brar has been named in list of Canada's 25 most wanted.

Who Is Goldy Brar

Brar belongs to Mukhtsar in Punjab and was reported to have moved to the US last year. He is part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, formed by Punjabi-origin gangsters, who reportedly run their operations in India, Canada, Dubai, Austria and Mexico. While the Indian agencies have been trying to track him down, the Interpol too issued a red notice against him in 2022.

The alert issued by Canada used the description of Brar given in the Interpol red notice. According to the alert, Satinderjeet Singh, better known as Goldy Brar, as a 29-year-old, born in Shri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, 1.75 metres tall and weighing 100 kilograms. He is one of the two non-Canadian nationals on the list, with the other from the US.

Canada's Bolo Alert

The intelligence authorities in Canada announced the names of 25 fugitives, including Brar, at an event marking the fifth anniversary in Toronto of the Bolo (be on the lookout) programme. The Bolo programme uses social media, technology and innovative engagement to encourage citizens to be alert and look out for Canada’s most wanted.

Brar is being probed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) over allegations originating from India. The Canadian High Commission in New Delhi said in a statement that the offences committed by Brar in India are very serious in nature and merit the interest of the police in Canada.

"Brar is believed to be in Canada and represents a risk to public safety. He is currently under investigation but is not charged with any criminal offences in Canada," the statement said.
