Divya Pahuja, a former model, and one of the accused in a gangster Sandeep Gadoli's murder in an alleged fake police encounter in Mumbai, was shot dead in a hotel in Gurugram on Tuesday. She was out on bail currently, reported PTI citing officials.
The incident took place on Tuesday night after she was allegedly taken to a motel by five individuals, who then shot her in the head. Gurugram Police arrested three of them while they were taking her body from the hotel in a car to dump it, police said.
"We have arrested three accused involved in the murder of Pahuja. Further probe is underway," said Bhupender Singh Sangwan, DCP, west.
Who Was Divya Pahuja?
- Pahuja, who was the girlfriend of gangster Sandeep Gadoli, was arrested on February 7, 2016, in connection with the murder of Gadoli. She was out on bail, granted by the Bombay High Court in June last year, almost seven years after she was held in the murder case.
- She was arrested along with her mother and five other police officers for the murder.
- According to the Mumbai Police, Gadoli had been lured into a trap with the help of his "girlfriend" Pahuja and killed in a fake encounter.
- When Pahuja was arrested and imprisoned, she was just eighteen years old.
- She had appealed for bail citing her approximate seven-year incarceration period.
Who was Sandeep Gadoli?
A notorious gangster from Gurugram, Sandeep Gadoli was suspected of several murders and had the police on edge for more than 20 years. He was wanted in several murder case including the death of municipal councillor Binder Gujjar’s driver in October 2015.
