After leading a 37-day-long protest at Jantar Mantar, which was withdrawn on July 25 following Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and assurances on its other key demands, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has found itself at the centre of speculation over its future political plans.
Reports suggested that CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke could soon make a formal entry into politics. However, the Boston-returned activist dismissed the speculation, ruling out any immediate plans to enter electoral politics or convert CJP into a political party.
Dipke said people have lost faith in politics and the electoral system and argued that the country currently needs a public movement rather than another political outfit.
"We have no such intention. We are seeing how political parties are being split using the ED and CBI. Votes are being deleted in elections. At this point, when people have lost faith in politics, what will we do by forming a political party? The way people are losing faith in the judiciary, election system and even the media, this country needs a public movement," Dipke told ANI.
All about CJP Formation
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), led by Abhi Dipke, is an Indian youth-led satirical political movement that emerged after a controversial remark by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant. During court proceedings, the CJI reportedly compared certain unemployed young people and online activists to "cockroaches" and "parasites of society".
The Gen Z-led satirical party went viral almost overnight, garnering millions of followers on Instagram. Within days, it surpassed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Instagram followers, crossing the 22 million mark. Although it began as an internet meme, the movement quickly evolved into a broader youth-led campaign fuelled by frustration over rising living costs, unemployment, and major educational controversies, with particularly the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.

The movement gained immense traction overnight, with climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day-long hunger strike adding momentum to the campaign. It later went on to lead massive protests against the NEET paper leak at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, which eventually resulted in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
What’s next for CJP?
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday announced that its core team will convene for a two-day strategy meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar beginning August 5. The session will bring together CJP’s founder, spokespersons, and organisational leadership to discuss and deliberate on the next steps for the youth movement.
Over the past several days, CJP team members have consulted a wide range of stakeholders on the movement’s future direction, including a team of 50 core volunteers who dedicated their time and efforts throughout the Jantar Mantar protest.
In the days following the strategy meeting, CJP will reach out to volunteers across the country and organise a nationwide listening tour to understand the needs and aspirations of the youth. The organisation said the initiative comes after the success of CJP’s protest against former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which it claims has renewed optimism among young people about the country’s future.
The CJP is expected to announce further details about its future plans, including the schedule of the nationwide listening tour, in the coming days.
