Bengaluru News: Amid a rise in debate over language in Bengaluru, a video has gone viral on social media in which a Delhi woman could be seen stating that the current stature of Bengaluru is because of the people from the northern states. She also added that many locals are finding it hard to accept, but this is the reality.

"Bengaluru is Bengaluru because of North Indians," the woman can be heard saying in the viral video. She said these things while answering a question on the difficulties she faced when she shifted from North India to the Silicon City.  She elaborated that apart from the language-based discrimination, the residents of Bengaluru often view people from North India differently, and also sometimes they address them as “these Hindi people.”

However, in spite of pointing out these negative aspects of the city, she also stated that she loves Bengaluru and will definitely choose to come back. “I love this city, and I will definitely come back,” she stated. The video has got more than 6 lakh views and hundreds of comments and reshares on X (formerly Twitter). The video went viral immediately after it was uploaded and has received mixed reactions from the netizens.

Several of the social media users got engaged in a debate over the role of North Indians in the current status of Bengaluru as the silicon city. While many of the women agreed with the woman stating that most of the engineers in the firms located in Bengaluru are from northern states, the others emphasised that the city gave them the opportunity for the employment.

"I don’t see anything wrong in her statement! And that’s how it should be! Kannadigas travel to other places as well—in and out of the country—and they don’t face this kind of hate in the north! Even if they are having a hard time speaking Hindi, most people do adjust with them," one of the users wrote.

"Was agreeing with her throughout until that last sentence she crapped out. Cannot be crediting only North Indians for what Bangalore is, but at the same time cannot deny the hatred by the locals towards non-Kannadigas," another user wrote.
