Unaided inter-colleges, secondary schools, Sanskrit schools, and madrasas in Jharkhand are set to receive pending grants for the financial year 2024-25. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a proposal from the School Education and Literacy Department to release Rs 7 crore, which constitutes 12 per cent of the pending grants, to these institutions.
However, the release of funds is expected only after the Chhath festival, raising concerns among teachers and staff. The Vitt Rahit Shiksha Sangharsh Morcha has pointed out that despite the Chief Minister approving the proposal and returning the file on October 21, salaries may not be disbursed before Chhath, as the department functions only on Fridays and the concerned under-secretary is on leave. The Morcha has urged the department to make alternative arrangements to ensure timely payment, providing relief to staff during the festival.
The Pharmacy Council of India has issued a final warning to recognised pharmacy institutions in Jharkhand to implement Aadhaar-based biometric attendance for students and teachers by December 31. Non-compliance will result in the cancellation of institutional recognition.
The Council has communicated this directive not only to pharmacy institutions but also to the state Health Department and the Jharkhand Pharmacy Council, seeking compliance reports so far.

This measure aims to prevent fraud, ensure that scheduled classes are conducted, and confirm that appointments of teachers meet sanctioned norms, as some institutions currently list teachers only on paper or rely on part-time staff to meet recognition requirements.
