The RIMS Governing Council made several major decisions to improve the institute's operations and enhance patient care in its 61st meeting,. The RIMS management has since sent a detailed report of the proceedings to the department, outlining significant changes aimed at upgrading facilities, strengthening healthcare services, and advancing medical education.
Infrastructure And Patient Care
A key decision was the modernisation of the Trauma Centre and Central Emergency. The council approved the immediate conversion of the 78-bed Trauma Centre to include ventilator-equipped beds and sanctioned the purchase of 100 new ventilators. A proposal for acquiring an additional MRI machine has also been sent to the department for approval. It was noted, however, that decisions from the previous meeting have yet to be implemented, even as the next Governing Body meeting is scheduled for October 9.
Campus Management And Staff Accountability
The Governing Council acknowledged the serious issues of drinking water and sanitation on the RIMS campus. To address this, a directive was issued for the daily monitoring of cleaning services and water supply. A monthly report on these arrangements must now be submitted to the RIMS Director. Furthermore, to ensure staff presence, an agreement was reached to implement biometric attendance devices for all doctors and employees.
Faculty Recruitment
Important decisions were made to fill vacant medical faculty positions. The council granted approval to conduct interviews and make appointments for vacant Assistant Professor posts shortly. For senior roles, a four-member committee has been formed to oversee the appointment of Professors, Additional Professors, and Associate Professors. This committee will include the Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University, the Director of AIIMS Deoghar, the Dean of RIMS and Dr Rajiv Mishra (Head of the Paediatrics Department).

Strategic Direction And Compliance
To elevate RIMS to the standard of the nation's top medical institutions, a decision was made to form an advisory board. This board will provide suggestions for reform and policy to enhance the institute's quality. The council also discussed the report from the High Court-appointed committee of advocates, resolving that all its directives will be strictly followed. The RIMS management and the district administration have been jointly instructed to take the necessary action.
