Consuming foods and beverages that are high in sugar content can cause weight gain, type 2 diabetes, acne and other health conditions. Foods high in sugar can trigger weight gain due to the huge number of calories present in them. Further, being overweight increases the risk of health problems such as heart disease, strokes and diabetes. In some people consuming too much sugar can also cause tiredness, fatigue and skin problems such as acne. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to reduce your sugar intake daily. You can practise this easily by adding foods that are low in sugar content to your diet. Here is a list of some fruits that have low sugar content and can be a part of your diabetes diet.

Citrus Fruits
The most healthful fruits are citrus fruits that are not just known for their vitamin C content but also have low sugar, which makes them a great choice for a regular healthy diet. Citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges and others contain good amounts of vitamin C and other vital nutrients and are low in sugar as compared to other fruits.
Raspberries
Raspberries are another excellent fruit that are low in calories and abundant in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are a good source of vitamins, minerals, potassium and vitamin C that promote digestion and heart health. It also contains a bioactive compound known as anthocyanin which is known to be effective for weight loss. About 100 grams of raspberries contain 4.4 grams of sugar content, which makes them a great addition to a diabetes diet.

Strawberries

About 100 grams of kiwi contains only 9 grams of sugar, which makes them a low-sugar fruit. This fruit is high in vitamin C, essential nutrients and antioxidants that help in easing digestion and promote heart and bone health.
Avocado
A half avocado just contains about 0.66 grams of sugar and includes fructose, glucose, sucrose, and galactose. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of avocados help fight oxidative stress caused by free radicals and prevent the development of certain diseases. The presence of vital nutrients in avocado helps to lose weight, regulate blood pressure and improve digestion.
