1. Heartburn

According to WebMD, heartburn or indigestion is a burning pain or discomfort that can move up from your stomach to the middle of your abdomen and chest. The pain can also move into your throat.

2. Lots of Saliva

If your mouth is flooded with saliva after having a meal or a snack, it can be a sign of acid reflux. The salivary glands of our mouth become more active as they detect an irritant in the throat and prepare to wash away the disturbant.

3. Breathing Issues Or Wheezing

If you experience breathing problems, especially at night, acid reflux can be the reason. When we lie down, acid washing up the esophagus can trigger a reflex which can result in breathing issues or wheezing. The acid can cause irritation and make you wake up to choking and coughing.

4. Regurgitation

The WedMD states that another common symptom of acid reflux is regurgitation or the sensation of acid backing up into your throat or mouth. Regurgitation can produce a sour or bitter taste, and you may experience wet burps.

5. Nausea

The bitter taste along with frequent burping and coughing associated with GERD and acid reflux can lead to feelings of nausea. The increased production of acid in the stomach can also result in upset stomach and nausea.

6. Dyspepsia

Many people with acid reflux disease also have a syndrome called dyspepsia. According to WebMD, dyspepsia is a general term for stomach discomfort and its symptoms include burping, nausea after eating, stomach fullness or bloating and upper abdominal pain and discomfort.
