CHAITRA Navratri is all set to begin and is just a few days ahead. The occasion of Navratri is a nine-day-long festival that is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across the country. This is one of the most auspicious and revered festivals of the Hindu religion. Chaitra Navratri begins on the first day of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar and falls in March or April. Chaitra is the first month of the Hindu lunar calendar and because of it, this Navratri is known as Chaitra Navratri. The festival signifies ‘good over evil’ and is celebrated with utmost importance.
According to popular beliefs, Goddess Durga arrives on Earth during this nine-day auspicious period of Navratri. She arrives in different vehicles that signify different meanings, auspiciousness, and inauspiciousness. This year, during Chaitra Navratri, Maa Durga is likely to arrive on a boat to shower blessings on her devotees.
Chaitra Navratri 2023: Date And Shubh Muhurat
Chaitra month’s Pratipada Tithi will begin on March 21 at 10.52 PM and will end on the following day, March 22, 2023, at 8.20 PM. Udaya Tithi predicts that Chaitra Navratri 2023 will begin on March 22 and end on March 30. Throughout North India, people fast for nine days, and on the ninth day, they worship God and mark the culmination of the festival.
Chaitra Navratri 2023 Maa Durga’s Vehicles or Vahan
According to Hindu scriptures, each vehicle of Goddess Durga indicates auspiciousness and inauspiciousness, natural calamity, war, or epidemic. It is believed that if Navratri begins on Sunday or Monday, then Maa Durga arrives with an elephant, whereas if the festival of Navratri begins on Tuesday or Saturday, Maa Durga arrives on a horse. Moreover, if Navratri starts on Thursday or Friday, then Mata Rani comes riding on a doli. On the other hand, if Navratri begins on Wednesday, then Maa Durga arrives by boat. This year Chaitra Navratri will begin on March 22 (Wednesday), therefore, Goddess Durga will be arriving on a boat.
Meanings Of Goddess Durga Vehicles Or Vahan
The verse in a holy Hindu scripture mentions, “Gaje cha jalda devi kshatra bhang sturangme”, which means that when Maa Durga comes riding on an elephant, it rains more. If Maa Durga comes riding on a horse, situations of war are likely to arise, whereas, if Goddess arrives riding on a boat, then it is auspicious and beneficial for all.
Significance Of Maa Durga Arriving On Boat As Her Vahan
This year, Navratri will be starting on March 22, which is Wednesday, therefore Goddess Durga will be coming riding on a boat. As per popular beliefs, a boat is a vehicle that moves on water, signifying good rain and a bountiful harvest. In astrology, this form of Maa Durga has been described as the one who fulfills all the wishes of her devotees.
