These brownies are a delightful dessert that adds cheer to any occasion, making them ideal for Christmas parties, family get-togethers or lounging by the fireside. With just a few simple ingredients and little preparation time needed, this dessert's simplicity is what makes it so delicious and memorable. Let’s help you prepare drool-worthy hot chocolate brownies with easy steps for this Christmas dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 packet of hot chocolate mix (or approximately 1/4 cup)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate, based on preference)
- 1/4 cup milk (or heavy cream for a richer texture)
- Optional toppings: Mini marshmallows, crushed candy canes, or chopped nuts for extra flavour and decoration
Recipe: Set your oven's temperature to 350°F (175°C) to start. Grease a 9 x 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter or you can also microwave it. Combine some sugar and melted butter in a big bowl and stir until smooth. One by one, add eggs, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and stir to add more flavour.

Sift the flour, baking powder, hot chocolate mix, unsweetened cocoa powder and salt in a separate bowl. Add this dry mixture to the other bowl and stir until everything gets mixed properly. The batter will taste rich and pleasant thanks to the hot chocolate mix.
Now, add some chocolate chips to the mixture and again mix well. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan. A toothpick inserted in the centre should come out with a few moist crumbs after 20 to 25 minutes of baking. For the ideal texture, the brownies should still have a little fudginess in the middle.
After letting the brownies sit in the pan for ten or so minutes, move them to a wire rack to finish cooling. Add small marshmallows, crushed candy canes or chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts on top for a festive look.
