Constitution Day also known as Samvidhan Divas is celebrated every year on November 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar chaired the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly, which was responsible for drafting the Constitution that came into effect on January 26, 1950. This day honours the constitution's significance and Ambedkar's legacy, promoting awareness and appreciation for India's foundational document.

We celebrate Constitution Day to raise awareness among citizens about their rights and constitutional values. The Constitution of India outlines fundamental principles, procedures and laws that govern the country and its citizens. Constitution Day 2024: History
The Constituent Assembly led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar drafted the Constitution which is also the longest constitution in the world. It comprises 448 articles grouped into 25 parts and 12 schedules. The government declared November 26 as Constitution Day in 2015, promoting its constitutional values. This day marks the culmination of efforts by the Constituent Assembly which drafted the Constitution. Before 2015, November 26 was observed as Law Day. The handwritten document prepared with calligraphy underwent several amendments before its adoption on November 26, 1949. January 26, 1950, marked a historic milestone as the Indian Constitution came into effect
